A mutual friend of Aggie and Clancy’s is responsible for this matchup who was always going on about how well they would hit it off. And sure enough, during their first meeting both felt they had known each other for a long time. Clancy loved her fun sense of humour, how easy she was to talk with, and of course her beauty! Aggie felt completely comfortable in his company – they kept in touch as friends for a year or so. Following her overseas holiday, it was Aggie who decided they should have dinner together – just the two of them! Clancy was super excited and nervous, and he drove home on cloud nine after a very happy and successful first date!
After that dinner and a few more dates – it was undeniable they should be together! They always had so much fun and Aggie says she feels a sense of comfort when she is with Clancy, which she has never felt before. Clancy always knew Aggie was ‘the one’ but took a while to get his act together. He had a fair idea of the type of ring Aggie would like as she had dropped many ‘unintentional’ hints for him!
He booked a holiday to the Whitsundays; keeping the destination a surprise for Aggie. The scene was set – white sands, turquoise ocean, a sunset and a romantic beach picnic moment – he was sure there would be plenty of opportunities to pop the question. It seemed like a sure thing, until they got off the plane and it started pouring with rain. The locals told them it was the first rain they’d had in six months – and it didn’t stop for the three days they were there! This limited the proposal opportunities somewhat, and by the last night things were getting dire for Clancy. He came up with the only idea had left – the sunrise of their last morning.
So he put the ring under his pillow and made sure to wake up at the crack of dawn – alas nothing but rain. While standing there stressing, the rain suddenly eased and in its place – a beautiful rainbow! This was it, he thought – now or never. So he excitedly woke Aggie up – “come look at the rainbow!” (Aggie loves rainbows). Luck was not on his side, as they made it back outside, the rainbow was gone. He remembers Aggie was a bit confused as to why he had dragged her outside to look at absolutely nothing, so there was no choice but to just take the plunge and ask the question!
She started crying and didn’t say anything for a while, until thankfully “yes, of course”. After some more tears and a bit of celebrating, he turned around and two rainbows had appeared in the sky above the ocean – perfect.
