We met for the first time on Valentine’s Day 2020. Jaymes was having a farewell party as he was moving to South America, and his old school friend and best man at our wedding Josh, brought along Jessie, his friend from university days. Jaymes greeted Jessie by picking her up and swinging her around – there was instant connection and affection. Thankfully COVID brought Jaymes back from his South America expedition, and back into the arms of Jessie. 1 year later Jaymes planned his proposal, by first flying incognito to Jessie’s parent in Tasmania to ask them for their daughters hand in marriage. Apparently it’s the only time he’s ever lied to her about his whereabouts…
Upon return, he planned a day starting with breakfast in the park, and a trip to Marrickville where we first met. We went for a beautiful walk through the significant spots in the suburb of Jaymes’ memories, where he would stop and relate how much he had grown and was blessed by Jessie coming alongside him as his girlfriend, giving her a present at each stop, printed photos from special moments of our relationship. This led to a final blindfolded surprise of Jessie, being led into the garden of his closest family friends, opening her eyes to a knelt Jaymes and the most perfect ring with the question of a lifetime – will you marry me?
Of course Jessie said yes!
Although we were to be married a few months later in July 2021, covid lockdown hit and we got married in the living room. We are so thankful that in July 2022 we were able to celebrate a year of marriage, and the renewal of our vows with all our family & friends!
