Ash and Connie met 8 years ago via the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel. She was always wary of dating apps and only signed up as a joint pact with a friend to try it out, convinced that she would not meet anyone, but thought it could just be a new experience to try. Soon after joining, she matched with Ash and, from their first text, felt there was easy banter and flow to the conversation.
They had been texting on the app for a few months when she thought it was time to progress to an in-person meet-up to see if their text chemistry indeed existed in real life (and to confirm that he actually looked like his photos!). Having never been the one to make the first move, she tested the waters by asking what he was doing that evening (it was a Friday) as a hint to start that conversation. He responded he would be cleaning his room… on a Friday night… To this day, she swears he was baiting her to make the first move (which he has always denied, but really, who plans to clean their room on a Friday night?!). She caved and asked whether he’d like to grab drinks after work. They decided to meet at Goros, a bar in Surry Hills close to his work.
She was relieved the first date went well, considering she’s always been nervous about dating apps! The conversation flowed so easily that she remembered they should save some of the conversations for other dates incase they ran out of things to say! One date lead to another and another and fast forward 8 years they eventually tied the knot at the amazing Mali Brae venue.
